Career in Textile & Fashion Designing by Tom Tierney
English | 2008 | ISBN: 8182471001 | 120 pages | PDF | 17 MB

The word fashion invokes a myriad of patterns in our mind that not just reflect upon the creativity of a person, but rather the whole persona of the designer comes into the fore. The word itself creates an aura of glamour and the conceptuality and the creativity of an individual. It talks volumes about the latent talent and the way one perceives fashion. Fashion is an industry which has become a serious business, where lot hard work goes in visualized fantasy.

Following the Second World War, fashion became available to a wider population for the first time as mass-production clothing filled stores and televisions and other media outlets relayed what the rich and famous wore on a daily basis. With this increase in popular culture consumption came an increase in consumer consumption, and styles and fashions changed quickly in the 1950s and 1960s. This colorful, captivating volume details how men and women dressed in their daily lives and for special occasions.

On January 20, 1981, the presidential candidate for the Republican Party, former movie actor Ronald Reagan, was sworn in as the fortieth president of the United States. Under Reagan, the country underwent a political and economic revolution characterized by deregulation (the lessening of government controls over the banking and industrial sectors) and large tax cuts. This political mood corresponded exactly to that of the then prime minister of Britain, Conservative Party leader Margaret Thatcher.

Although the 1920s and 1930s are often lumped together as the period “between the wars,” the two decades were quite different in character and styles of dress varied greatly.
The 1920s were the Jazz Age, a period of escapism after the horrors of World War I. The younger generation, especially, turned their backs on the formality and dark, buttoned-up clothing of the previous century.

Stephen King – The Bachman Books

New English Library Ltd | 1987 | ISBN:045039249X | 656 pages | PDF | 4,98 mb

Richard Bachman first appeared on bookshelves in the late 1970's with the release of Rage and The Long Walk. King has said that he used the Bachman pseudonym so that he could write differently and also to see how an unknown writer would do. The Bachman books were not as successful as those penned under the King name, but he kept producing them. In the early 1980's, King used the Bachman name to write Roadwork and The Running Man. In 1984, King wrote Thinner using the Bachman name. Somehow, around the same time, Steve Brown found that Bachman was actually King. The rumor spread fast and "Thinner" began flying off the shelf.Bookstores throughout the country began selling out of all the Bachman books of course, and King finally admitted the truth.

Fascinating, how he pulled it off for over fifteen years!
